Immerse yourself in rural calm at the Purbeck Project – a carefully curated contemporary house designed by award-winning architects, ‘Gruff.’ This striking property effortlessly blends modern touches with nature, with the house, garden and surrounding views working in harmony. Recently renovated and with space for up to 10 guests, this house combines the original Victorian Cottage with all the creature comforts you need for a relaxing stay and is ideal for a family break or a trip with friends. Enjoy a blissful soak in the spacious wood-fired hot tub, drift off in the garden hammock or share stories around the fire-pit as night falls, making unforgettable memories. Idyllically situated in the Isle of Purbeck with the magnificent Jurassic Coastline just a short drive away, you will be spoiled for choice when planning your itinerary. At the heart of the property lies the bright, spacious open plan kitchen and living area bathed in natural sunlight. Start your day by preparing a satisfying breakfast in the bespoke, fully-equipped kitchen featuring two ovens, a dishwasher and wine fridge (to keep those all-important tipples chilled). Gather round the spacious island and discuss the day’s plans, or take a seat at the roomy dining table with space for all. Three living areas provide ample room for you and your group to unwind after a day’s adventures. Two are found in the open plan living space: the TV area where guests can relax by the floating wood burner for a movie night, and the dreamy lookout area complete with a chic, hanging egg chair for cocktails with a garden view. The cosy snug at the front of the house is the third spot, where guests can escape for a snooze or work remotely. A beautiful staircase leads from the ground to the first floor, where four tranquil, stylish bedrooms provide a range of sleeping options for up to eight guests. Choose from two double bedrooms, one ensuite king size bedroom and a children’s bedroom with single bunkbeds and an extra two beds. The snug can also be used as an additional double bedroom. Three immaculately designed bathrooms will leave you feeling rejuvenated after a long day out. As the sun goes down, picture yourself soaking in the wood-fired hot tub glass of bubbly in hand, before enjoying an alfresco meal on the terrace with loved ones. The hot tub seats eight to 10 people. Continue the evening huddled round the sunken fire-pit with a hot drink or nightcap, sharing stories and making memories before retiring for a sound night’s sleep. Explore the stunning Dorset Area of Natural Beauty and nearby Saxon market town of Wareham, with a plethora of amenities including pubs and bakeries for your daily needs. The incredible Jurassic Coastline is just a short drive from the property, where you can discover pristine beaches and hiking trails.

Bucks Coppice

- 3 nights Min Stay low season 7 nights high seasons
£182.75 per night
Ramble through ancient woods on the miles of the Jubilee Trail that crosses at the top of the country lane, then come home to lie on the suntrap deck and slide into the lake whenever you get too hot. The only visitors to this secluded spot, hidden in the depths of Dorset countryside, are a huge array of bird life, maybe deer, wild boar and if you're super lucky, visiting otters. Mix up the walks in Hooke Woods and even a visit to the Hooke Park Architecture Centre, with trips to market towns and the cliffs and coves of the Jurassic coast, with beaches at Eype and Seatown overlooked by great pubs. The chance to stay in the middle of a Site of Scientific Interest is rare, but after over 20 years living on the site in a caravan, Sid was granted permission to build this fabulous forest retreat. He did so with a considerate balancing of the comfort of nature and that of humans. The off-grid space draws its water from the lake with solar power and gas taking care of lighting, cooking and water heating. Any sense that this is “roughing it” is dispelled by the smart, understated style of the interior and the swish kitchen space, an aspiring chef’s dream. All this looking out upon the tranquility of the lake and the sea of greenery on your doorstep.
