The Walled Garden
- 0
- 2 nights min stay
£245.00 up to £325.00 per night
Couples can enjoy a relaxing retreat in these bespoke larch clad buildings nestled within a private walled garden, just a short drive from the stunning north Norfolk beaches. For those looking for a private getaway, where guests can unwind amongst nature, chill in luxury and explore one of the prettiest areas of England, The Walled Garden offers it all. The accommodation is split between two luxurious buildings which sit organically against the ancient stone wall. The open plan living area and kitchen has been exquisitely put-together with three distinct areas where couples can cook, dine, relax or even work. Exposed timbers run across the ceiling and large windows bring in pools of light, as well as offering views across the gardens. The kitchen sits at the far end of the space with a large island with an embedded sink where couples can enjoy cooking while taking in the blissful surroundings. Full of modern conveniences, this space will make preparing romantic suppers a breeze. Once dinner is ready, wander to the spacious circular dining table and relax in absolute comfort. In the warmer months open the windows and enjoy the birdsong and sounds of nature as they float through on the light summer breeze. There is an additional dining area outside where guests can make the most of the warm evenings and sit under the stars. And, for evenings when it's time to snuggle, fire up the wood burner, sink into the large comfy sofa and sip some wine while watching the flames flicker. The bedroom suite is situated just a few footsteps away and with a luxurious super king size bed dressed in crisp linens, guests are guaranteed a blissful night's sleep. In the morning, throw open the patio doors and enjoy coffee from bed while taking in the beautiful surroundings. Hanging out and relaxing at the Walled Garden for the duration of the stay would be very tempting, but the surrounding area has much to discover including a stunning coastline, wildlife reserves and many historic Stately Homes. After a day exploring, head to The Carpenters Arms at Wighton or The Red Lion at Stiffkey for great service and delicious food.

As you approach Middleton Castle along the private drive, you can’t fail to be mesmerised by the vast, grand and historic 15th century building that greets you. Boasting battlements, turrets, parapets and grand windows, it’s your perfect luxury escape for groups of up to 30. Crossing the bridge over the moat and entering through the huge doorway takes you back in time. Timeless styling with luxury fittings set the stage for your getaway with friends and family. For those of you lucky enough… there’s even space to land your helicopter! Built in 1455 by the 7th Baron Scales, and with space for up to 30 guests in 15 bedrooms, the cavernous castle is the ideal place to reconnect with loved ones. The grand hallway boasts period features including an ornate floor and a vast staircase to the floors above. Moving through the ground floor, the main kitchen is the heart of the home and is fully equipped with everything you need to ensure large groups are well-fed and watered. The traditional AGA steals the show, but the traditional worktops and neutral tones create a welcoming space. A large dining table and set of chairs make the kitchen the ideal spot for a casual bite to eat, but for a special occasion, the grand, oak-panelled dining room is a place like no other. Middleton Castle also has an additional Prep Kitchen, should you need it. In the summer months, fire up the BBQ, light the fire pit and venture into the private gardens for some alfresco dining. During the days, wander the mature gardens that have plenty of space for the kids to run around, play croquet or boules, catch some rays or simply take in the tranquil North Norfolk countryside. As the nights draw in or during the colder weather, light one of the grand fireplaces and spend the evening with friends and family. Gather around for a board game or make your way to the billiards room for snooker or table tennis. For something a bit different, why not don your finest and use the vast castle for a murder mystery game? When it’s time to head to bed, make your way to one of the 15 beautifully decorated bedrooms. The master suite has a beautiful ensuite and adjoining reception room and there are four additional ensuite bedrooms, as well as four double bedrooms, three twin rooms and three multiple zip and link bedrooms that all combine to ensure there’s space for the whole group. There are a mix of ensuite and family bathrooms all boasting luxury fittings that match the grand surroundings of the castle. Wake up refreshed and recharged ready for the day ahead. If you’re keen to explore the local area, there are several breathtaking walks through the surrounding woodland and farmland, as well as the opportunity to visit the award-winning wildlife reserve, Watatunga Safari Park. Further afield, seals can be seen at Blakeney Point and the stunning North Norfolk coast is a short drive away, whilst a day spent on the golden sands of Wells-next-the-Sea beach is unforgettable. Nearby King’s Lynn offers a range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as does Norwich, with its stunning mediaeval architecture and thriving art scene set among historic surroundings.
