Within the charming hamlet of Hartsop in England’s famously picturesque Lake District sits Hart Barn, a uniquely designed barn conversion in-keeping with the area’s pretty scenery. Crafted from local stone and finished with a vaulted roof of oak, this splendid space is the perfect retreat for couples wanting to explore the romantic hills and lakes of Northern England without having to choose between authenticity and luxury. The unassuming exterior leaves your totally unprepared for the “wow” of the interior. The moment you walk into the kitchen and feel the underfloor heating tingle your toes, you’ll know that you’ve picked the ideal base from which to take in the world-famous Lake District. A striking curved wall of brilliant red carves the downstairs area into a high spec modern kitchen/diner replete with Neff appliances on one side, and a hanging space for coats on the other. There is also a useful utility/drying room at the back of the kitchen. The fabulous square spiral staircase made from polished oak railway sleepers and brushed stainless steel leads you up to the first floor living area. This staircase is designed by the architect owner and is lit from within casting a warm red light through the heart of the building. The living area has a Morso freestanding woodburning stove (with free logs) and a large sofa with footstool to relax on with a book and complimentary glass of prosecco as you gaze out over the lake and fells outside. On this floor is the gorgeous limestone bathroom with freestanding bath, separate shower and Phillipe Stark fittings. Then up the central spiral stairs again to the romantic bedroom nestled in the green oak roof structure with a gallery onto the living room below. After a long day hiking through the surrounding national park, you’re guaranteed a great night’s sleep on this elegant kingsize bed with Egyptian cotton bedlinen. Enjoy a long soak in the freestanding bath when you come in from walking, or sit on one of the twin recliners which look out over your very own landscaped garden.
