Inside every room has a sea view in this whitewashed, south-facing fisherman’s cottage, which nestles in the dunes at the rear of the beach just 200 metres away. There’s an attractive, open-plan living room overlooking pretty south-facing walled garden, bordered by a stream. This room has exposed beams and large granite inglenook with ‘Victorian’ wood-burning stove. The kitchen/dining area is fully equipped and is ideal for cosy nights in together sharing a meal. Open-plan stairs lead you to the first floor where you’ll find three pretty bedrooms; one double room with ornate antique iron bed and two further cosy bedrooms one with a single bed and the other a built-in bed. The bathroom has an over-bath shower and toilet. All rooms have rugs on pine floors. The coastline is full of beaches, ranging from safe bathing beaches to secluded coves to wild and rocky places. Some are easily accessible and some less so. The sea is crystal clear, jade green, and a comfortable swimming temperature into late autumn. The local inn and the attractive little fishing harbour of Sennen Cove are only 10 minutes’ walk across the vast expanse of the sandy Blue Flag beach, which is perfect for swimming, water sports and famous for surfing. If you are lucky, you may see dolphins, spot the odd seal or even a basking shark. St Ives and Penzance are also accessible with a car.
