A cosy corner sofa, deep leather armchair, fluffy rug, stylish art and toasty wood burner make this space feel like home from home. Settle in and watch a movie or just relax with snacks and drinks and marvel at your surroundings.
The kitchen is sleek, modern, stylish and fully equipped for cooking romantic meals for two to be enjoyed at the dining table by the riverside window. On warm evenings the stable door leads straight out onto the alfresco dining patio where you can while away the evening by candlelight. After dinner you might like to take your coffee down to the bench by the river and stargaze before bed.
When it's time to sleep, the luxurious bedroom offers everything you could need for a restful night. High quality Egyptian linens and plush pillows will envelope you and when you wake you can laze in bed with the built-in surround sound Sonos and Sky TV to entertain you.
Rise in the morning and refresh yourself in the fabulous concrete ensuite beneath the rainfall shower, whilst your towel and robe keep warm and fluffy on the heated towel rails. Underfloor heating will take care of your toes!
Head to the kitchen for the first cup of coffee and if the weather is clement stroll down to the bench by the river and sit in peaceful tranquility with the sun on your face. The patio is perfect for alfresco dining and if its a little chilly you can light the outdoor wood burner and settle at the big table under cover in great comfort.
When it's time to explore there are plenty of lovely pubs within walking distance including the award-winning Mason Arms at Strawberry Bank, only 400m away, and the cosy Hare & Hounds only 150m away! Fine dining can be enjoyed at Simon Rogan's iconic 'L'Enclume' or the Gilpin Spice (you may have seen it on the 'Great British Menu' TV show).
For days out you can hire a boat (rowing or power) and explore the lake. Or simply take a cruise on one of the elegant Lake Windermere Steamers, a charming way to see the area.

The Tithe Barn Hotel is a historic townhouse that has been refurbished to the highest standard but still retains its original charm. As you ascend the staircase to your room you'll pass stunning stained glass windows and exposed stone walls. High ceilings and reclaimed materials provide style and a soothing welcoming interior. There are nine rooms to choose from, all of which have super-king size beds which can be adapted into twins as needed. The décor mixes modern elegance and luxury with the fine bedding, plush pillows and warm cosy duvets and blankets, and adds a touch of charm with the exposed beams and stone walls. Pretty art adorns the walls and the furniture is made from reclaimed wood. The rooms are large enough to lounge about in, you have a choice between classic king, deluxe king and superior king, and some of the deluxe rooms are on the ground floor for those with mobility issues. Curl up on the bed, get some snacks and pour yourself a big drink before settling in for a movie on the Smart TV which offers iPlayer, Netflix and much more. In the morning you'll be delighted by the fabulous ensuite bathroom with its white brick tiled walls and pretty detailed floor tiles. The showers are spacious and hot and the heated rails will keep all towels fluffy and warm so you can luxuriate under the hot water and enjoy the complimentary Eden toiletries. Tithe Barn is a staff-less hotel with hassle free smart Yale locks for easy check-ins and breakfast is included in your stay and served at the nearby VeeVa Cafe where you can get fresh coffee and a huge menu selection of delicious hot and cold food. When you're ready to explore Cockermouth you'll be right in the centre of town with lots of fabulous independent shops, restaurants and bars to choose from. Cockermouth is one of only 51 towns in Britain designated as a 'Gem' town, and you'll be a short drive away from some beautiful serene lakes and mountains. Derwentwater Pier is particularly lovely and you'll want to take some photos there. Allonby Beach is also a must visit and the hosts recommend you stop by The Lakes Distillery for a tasting. They also have a lovely bistro and the setting is a former Victorian farmstead’s cattle parlour. If you fancy a pint the town is famous for its Jenning's Brewery where you can also enjoy a tour and sample of their beers. Tilia, next door to the hotel has a lovely menu and when you're done exploring you can head back to Tithe Barn Hotel and head down to the Tithe Tap, a hidden speakeasy and gin bar offering decadent cocktails and delicious charcuterie boards. By Lake Windermere in the stunning Lake District are five luxury holiday cottages in the grounds of The Swan Hotel. Known as ‘The Nests’, each enjoys spectacular views across the beautiful surrounding countryside. The largest of the cottages is The Dormouse, which sleeps up to eight people (six adults and two children). Here there are two super king-size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, plus a children’s bunk room with four single beds. There is also a further family bathroom. Meanwhile, the living quarters consist of the sitting room with log burner and flat screen TV, as well as a fully equipped kitchen/diner with a range cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Outside is the private terrace with an outdoor fireplace. The Hedgehog, The Mallard, and The Owl Nest all have a similar spec, although vary slightly. Once again there is a sitting room with log burner, kitchen/diner, and private outdoor terrace. In all four cottages guests are greeted by a welcome pack consisting of essentials, including homemade cake and biscuits. Finally there is The Love Nest. This exquisite studio cottage has been designed to be the perfect romantic getaway for two people. It has a super-king bed, while the bathroom has both a roll top bath and a double walk-in shower with a rainforest head. Bright and airy in its design, there is a log burner inside and a private terrace with a fireplace outside. While those staying in the cottages can enjoy absolute privacy, they are also perfectly placed to make use of the hotel and its facilities. Found in a secluded spot between the Lake District and the Scottish border, the Hidden River Cabins are large and luxurious – perfect for getting away to rural Cumbria in style. Make your choice from five incredible log-built lodges in peaceful surroundings, each sleeping between six and ten guests. On the banks of the River Lyne, these eco-friendly cabins sit comfortably amongst nature. Each cabin is kept cosy with a combination of solar power and a wood-burning stove. The countryside setting makes them the perfect place for pets to unwind too, so it’s a real plus that dogs are welcome at each of the Hidden River Cabins.
