It's the perfect space to hunker down and take in the spectacular surroundings or return to after long days hiking the trails. Each is named Lake District-appropriate, from Fell to Tarn to Herdwick, and, while they all share wonderful views and high-standards of luxury and comfort, the room interiors are as different as the names. And while the decor and layout may differ, each room is ensuite with oodles of hot water, gorgeous complimentary smellies and fluffy towels and bathrobes. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer wonderful views of the surroundings and underfloor heating and sheepskin rugs ensure visitors are cosy throughout their stay. Wake to the sun's rays gently warming the face and the sound of the birds beginning their day. Make a morning coffee courtesy of the handy Nespresso machine (kettles are also provided for those hankering after a proper cuppa), hop back into bed, or settle into the comfy armchairs and watch the weather roll over before heading to breakfast. After demolishing a hearty breakfast, guests are fully-fuelled for a day exploring the tarns, fells, lakes and pubs of this breathtaking national park. Guests share a large, comfortable lounge where they can kick off their boots (there is a handy drying room), relax with a drink from the honesty bar, swap tales with other travellers or spend some quiet time reading and enjoying the tranquility of their surroundings. There are plenty of activities to keep guests busy. Apart from exploring the Lakes and Fells, there are Roman Forts, steam railways and the pretty harbour town of Whitehaven, a great spot to grab dinner.
