The Old Devon Boathouse
- 0
- 1 night
£190.00 per night
The terms "boathouse conversion" and "industrial design" may not seem like the best coupling upon first listen, but both concepts have been seamlessly married in The Old Devon Boathouse. The interior is stylish and contemporary, while the setting is quaint and maritime. Sitting right on the River Exe in the town of Topsham, you will be ideally situated to explore the region, and the county's capital Exeter is just a short drive away. Sleeping up to three guests, The Boathouse is a wonderful retreat for couples or small families with an appreciation for modern décor and charming vistas. Exposed white brick walls, luxury modern furnishings, and top-quality basalt floor tiles run through the property, lending it an industrial, yet sleek, air. Upon entering, you will be greeted by the open planned living area (and a classic Porsche in the adjoined garage). The sitting room contains a comfy couch, flat screen TV, and a cosy wood burning stove. An ultra-contemporary kitchen sits adjacent and comes well equipped. The master bedroom boasts a comfortable double bed and a beautiful ensuite. The bathroom houses a standalone bath and has black 3D Bisazza tiles on one side, with exposed white brick on the other. This juxtaposition creates the ultimate ambient space in which to soak your cares away. There is a separate single bedroom, great for a small child or third guest. Step outside The Boathouse and you will be greeted by the site of the passing boats on the River Exe. Topsham is a charming little historic town, with beautiful architecture and several bars and eateries to enjoy. You will also be perfectly positioned for exploring all that Devon has to offer. Right on the banks of the River Exe, you will have fantastic access to the Devon coast, which is replete with rocky inlets and some of the best beaches in England. The East Devon AONB is also nearby, containing over 100 square miles of protected countryside. The nearby coastal towns of Sidmouth and Exmouth are directly to the south and east respectfully. Topsham itself sits within the district of Exeter, with the city being a short 15-minute drive away. The county town of Devon, Exeter is famous for its cathedral and is a tourist hotspot with lots to see and do.

£95.00 per night
Perched on a green and wooded hill in some marvellous rolling Devon countryside, Cidermaker's Cabin is an exquisitely designed and built shepherd's hut available as a self-catering space for couples and individual travellers looking to spend time in nature. Newly built and brimming with elegant features, local art and first-class amenities, Cidermaker's Cabin is the ultimate getaway for anybody who wants to immerse themselves in nature without compromising on luxury and comfort. The cabin itself is deceptively spacious inside, making good use of smart design, large windows and natural wood finishes to create a comfortable space which two people can easily coexist in. The cabin occupies a small footprint, but happily contains everything that a resourceful couple could need for a restorative time away. There is a full kitchen, with a two-burner hob, oven/microwave and even a butler's sink, as well as ample preparation space, perfect for cooking up everything from a slap-up breakfast before you hit the footpaths to a romantic evening meal to be enjoyed with a glass of cider on the deck outside. Off the main space, you'll find a built-in king sized bed, occupying the entire width of the cabin, and benefitting from the same high vaulted ceiling which characterises the space. The bathroom is contemporary, with a high-pressure rain shower heated by an external boiler. Throughout the interior, beaded lumber, neutral tones and subtle, whitewashed finishes come together to create an elegant and subtle space. When it rains, snuggle up inside with a good book and a cup of tea, and when the sun shines, head out in the surrounding region with a picnic, taking in the Exmoor light, warmth and unique flora. Typically guests at Cidermaker's Cabin spend their time hiking in nature, before returning home to sit out on the timber porch with a glass of locally made cider before cooking a meal together using seasonal ingredients. For anyone who loves nature and being outside, the area is dreamy in all four seasons, and there really is nothing like coming home to your own cosy space for a hot shower, a cold drink, and another evening with only the sounds of the wind in the trees as you drift off to sleep. While the cabin is secluded, the nearby village of Meshaw is a quaint and historic settlement, and is ideal for enjoying a pint of local cider in a charming pub, picking up local meat, vegetables, bread and cheeses, and taking in some history and culture. The beaches and coast are within easy reach, and there are dozens of footpaths, cycle trails and hikes nearby.
