The Truffle
- 0
- 2 nights min stay
£165.00 per night
The curves of Moss, one of five cabins the owners call Truffles, flow inside and out, giving you the relaxing impression that the world has no sharp edges. Even the handcrafted upcycled armchairs are comfortingly rounded, while the hammock is whatever shape you make when you’re dozing in it. Outside, the 15 acres of woodland enhance the calming effect. There’s a private cooking area with an Aquaforno system, including pizza oven and hot water heater, but also a single gas hob for quick cups of tea. A minute or so through the woods you’ll find the bathrooms, which are situated together but exclusive to each Truffle, so you can leave your stuff when you’re done. With board games and books, you could easily hang out in the Truffle for a couple of days, cosy by the wood burning stove watching out for the family of deer that often roam the woods, and the birdlife that thrives all around you. If you’re after a bit of an adventure though, you have Dartmoor one way and the North Cornwall coast the other. Take on epic hikes and climbs, or just ramble at your leisure. There’s a good chance you don’t make it any further than the Tally Ho in Hatherleigh, which is a local favourite getting quite a reputation for its home brewed beer.

Discover a refurbished 18th century manor in the serene village of Bratton Clovelly, surrounded by countryside. Four former stables and barns have been repurposed into self-contained cottages accommodating up to 18 guests, perfect for a special occasion or to gather family and friends together. Beyond the natural beauty, you're spoiled for choice in leisure activities at this beautiful resort. Enjoy a few rallies on the tennis court and explore the 30-acre estate, including private woodland, before relaxing in the spa and dipping in the outdoor heated pool. For the wilder among you, there's always a swim in the private lake during the warmer months. The largest of the cottages, the Coach House, has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Underfloor heating will keep you toasty in the winter, and there's also a private four-seater hot tub in the enclosed garden. The Cottage has two ensuite bedrooms, one with a glazed balcony overlooking the piazza. The Studio has two bedrooms, both with ensuites. Like the Cottage, you can look over the piazza from the glazed balcony, and all three cottages have log burners to keep you toasty and warm all year round. Finally, the Apartment can sleep up to four guests, but it's up to you whether you prefer one bedroom and a sitting room, two bedrooms or two spaces to entertain. The cottages are self-contained but close to one another around a paved courtyard, giving you the ideal balance of socialising and relaxation. When you want to gather together, the private dining room seats 20, and you can savour the outdoor dining terrace on sunnier days. For the ultimate experience, book a bespoke banquet of East Asian cuisine from Li's kitchen on-site, or if you want to venture beyond the estate, dine out or go for a pint at the village pub, the Clovelly Inn, it's just a walk away. Be sure to sample all the estate's facilities, including the hot tub, hydro pool, wellness spa and sauna, and then curl up with a good book on the swing-egg chair under the veranda of the lounge. Once recharged, stroll around the lake and forest, fire up the BBQ in the outdoor cooking area outside the Coach House garden or hire the automatic ball serving machine at the tennis court. When you can tear yourself away from your country resort, explore the beauty of Dartmoor National Park. Whether walking, cycling or horse riding is your adventure of choice, there's plenty to explore in the vast open moorlands.

£1,075.00 up to £1,415.00 per week
This delightful little thatched cottage is set on a working farm in Devon surrounded by cider orchards and rare-breed sheep, goats and cattle. You’ll be able to enjoy the farm’s produce during your stay and explore most of its 63 acres of gardens, woodlands, re-wilded marshlands and even a beach on the Teign estuary. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a cosy hideaway, perfect for couples with many of the building’s 18th century features preserved in a recent refurbishment. Snuggle up next to the beautiful old fireplace with exposed beams overhead or enjoy the view from the charming bedroom with its sloping ceilings upstairs. This is the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some stunning natural surroundings. The Grade II* listed building was built as the original farmhouse and you’ll find plenty of history in and around the house. There’s an even older thatched cider press and barrel store close by and cider is still made on the farm with apples from the heritage orchard, though now using more modern techniques. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with a small Aga stove, all the cooking equipment you could need and Richard Bramble pottery. Complimentary freshly laid eggs are available and you can purchase more of the farm’s produce during your stay. Move through to the living room and you’ll find a dining area and a comfy sofa set in from of an open fire. Logs, matches and firelighters are provided, so you’ll be toasty whatever the weather and there’s a selection of books as well as a TV for cosy evenings in. The bedroom features a lovely wooden floor, exposed beams and a comfy double bed complete with an electric blanket. You’ll find robes and slippers waiting for you along with Cowshed toiletries in the shower room. There are some more facilities for washing and drying clothes in the adjacent stable building. Outside, you’ll find your own private seating area with a gas BBQ so you can cook outdoors on sunny days surrounded by the sights and sounds of the farm. Tucketts is a regenerative farm without the use of chemicals or fertiliser which means that you’ll be surrounded by plenty of wildlife. If you’re lucky you might spot cirl buntings hopping in and out of the hedgerows, long-eared owls in the woodland or herons and cormorants down by the estuary. There’s plenty to do in the area beyond exploring the farm. Head down to the pretty village of Shaldon just a few miles away for a day at the seaside. The village of Combeinteignhead is within walking distance and home to a historic church and several friendly pubs.
