Sun-dapple
£145.00 per night
Lie indoors in your hammock listening to the rain bounce off the Truffle with the door open – nothing smells better than the woodland in the rain – or snuggle next to your wood-burner or around your firepit if it’s chilly. In fine weather, gently swing on the outside hammock; at night you can gaze at the stars through the tree canopy above. A quarter of the site has been returned to nature, and you’ll find ancient hedge banks, a gentle stream and rope swings hanging from trees waiting to be discovered. Although you’re surrounded by a 300-acre sheep farm, Hatherleigh town centre is a short walk away and has two lovely pubs as well as a supermarket, cafe and local farm shop. North Cornwall’s beaches are half an hour away and you’re only a ten-minute drive from the edge of Dartmoor.

The Humble Bee
- 0
- 2 nights min stay
£190.00 per night
This might be a human-sized beehive, but there’s no colony of guests, just the two of you. Sip champagne as the steam from the outdoor bath drifts up the rock walls that make the Humble Bee such a hidden spot or fold back the various doorways and let the woodland flow in. Moving between the landings inside, you’ll find thick furs, a day-bed for lounging and on the top floor, a king-size bed that appears suspended in the ceiling. The light from the honeycomb feature wall and heater flickering off reclaimed crates, barrel strapping and rich, dark wood give the hive a sultry, honeyed glow. If you choose to venture out of Humble Bee in search of the sweet nectar of adventure, then the wilderness of Dartmoor is merely a bumble away. Take the short tramp to the Railway cafe or grab bikes from the nearby youth hostel, get a good route from Yvette and range a little further. You’re just a hop from town, so you might hear the nearby park and local school from time to time, but it also means you can drop into the shops of Okehampton then retire to Humble Bee’s kitchen to cook up a storm. There is even a hot tub shared with your neighbours in The Bird Box and Moonbeam Yurt at Honeyside Down. However, it’s in the cosy den of the hive where you’ll likely spend most of your time - soaking in the amazing private outdoor bath and napping and luxuriating in the wonderfully creative habitat of Humble Bee. As featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces on Channel 4.

The Den Treehouse At Pickwell Manor
- 0
- 2 nights min stay
£317.90 per night
The Den is an island of beautiful design, floating in the treetops next to sister space The Hideaway Treehouse and perfectly blending the wild and the indulgent. In the daytime, throw open the doors and the breakfast bar window, sit out on the deck and live surrounded by nature. When the night draws in, close it all up and let the wood burner and underfloor heating turn the lounge into a cosy space for napping, reading or board games. As for the four-person jacuzzi, it is in an amazing decked space at the lower level and has a separate drinks fridge-freezer and lounge area. Cooking options are equally versatile, with a BBQ outdoors and fully equipped kitchen inside. While it’s an incredibly romantic spot for couples, The Den is also perfect for a family of four. One room has a king-size bed and another two full-size bunks and the deck is guarded by a rail, so toddlers can wander free. You can even bring the dog, so nobody has to miss out.Once you’re in The Den, you may not want to leave, but if you do head out then you still might not get further than the grounds of Pickwell Manor. There’s a campfire area, an animal zone, croquet lawn and even the laundry room gets great feedback for the amazing view. Day trips could see you swimming, paddle boarding or surfing at Woolacombe Bay, or heading out along the coastal path from nearby Putsborough beach. A half-hour walk into Georgeham brings you to a couple of great pubs, with The Rock Inn a great choice for a special meal and The King’s Arms for a pint in the garden and music on Fridays. And because The Den is your own little world, you can fire up the tub whenever you get back and end the day with a dip.

It's set on a 17-acre private estate with lots of exploring to do along grassy trails, country lanes and pretty streams. Enjoy relaxing days at the nearby beaches or stride off along the South West Coast Path for breathtaking views before a dip in your private hot tub or the estate's heated indoor swimming pool. Old Barn was once Coulscott Farm's main barn and has been thoughtfully converted to provide contemporary holiday accommodation while retaining its original rustic charm. Step inside and you'll find yourselves in an impressive living area with vaulted wood ceilings that reach right to the top of the barn's three levels. Staircases and galleries lead up to the bedrooms on the floors above while comfy sofas invite you to relax and unwind in front of the log-burning fire. Move through to the fully-equipped kitchen, complete with an Aga, coffee machine and large dining table where you can enjoy delicious meals together. After dinner, get a board game going in front of the fire or head up to the cosy snug to select a book from the shelves and curl up on the sofa. You'll find five bedrooms across the barn's three levels, providing plenty of space and flexibility for groups. Next to a sunroom on the ground floor, is a bedroom with a super-king size bed and ensuite bathroom, perfect for those who prefer not to navigate a flight of stairs. Head up to the first floor and you'll find a king size room with a balcony overlooking the valley. There's also a twin room and a family bathroom, a great set-up for families with children. The main bedroom is also on this floor with an ensuite and doors that open onto the deck, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee with views of the surrounding countryside. Rustle up some lunch on the BBQ, go for a dip in the hot tub or just lie back and relax on one of the sun loungers, all while enjoying the stunning views of the estate's valley. In the summer months, you'll be able to stay out late into the evening, watching the sunset and perhaps doing a bit of stargazing from the comfort of the hot tub. During your stay you will be nestled in a secluded valley, surrounded by 17 acres of picturesque grounds with lots of great things to see and do. Kids will love the indoor games room that features table football and table tennis, and the specialised soft play area caters to children under five, providing a secure and enjoyable space. Kids will also love the large wooden pirate ship featuring decks, the two-storey Wendy House and the wooden tractor with a slide. There’s also a five-acre dog-walking field, and nature lovers will delight in meeting Coulscott's diverse resident animals, numbering over 50 and still growing. These include free-range chickens, charming call ducks, runner ducks, alpacas, pygmy goats, hand-reared sheep, Kune Kune piglets, guinea pigs, mini lop rabbits and orphan lambs during the spring. And finally, within the expansive grounds you also have a five-a-side football pitch, full-size badminton and tennis courts and various games such as croquet, boules and cricket. There’s also the newly added pitch and putt golf course! Old Barn has the rugged landscapes of Exmoor and the stunning beaches of North Devon right on its doorstep, so you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding things to see and do. Start off by exploring the estate, with pretty trails to follow, play areas to entertain the kids and a heated indoor pool for a refreshing way to start the day. Venture out towards the coast and you'll find Combe Martin beach just a mile away, offering a sheltered stretch of water for kayaking and paddleboarding with the opportunity to spot dolphins and seals. The secret cove of Wild Pear is just a little further along the coast or there's Broadsands Beach with its turquoise waters and mysterious caves. The famous beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are just a little further along the coast, offering world-class surfing spots and miles of golden sand to enjoy. To see a bit more of the coast and learn a bit more about the local marine life, head out on a sea safari from Ilfracombe. You might prefer to explore inland with horse riding, hiking or mountain biking in Exmoor National Park, a trip to the beautiful Arlington Court or a family day out at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.
