The Led Zeppelin

£115.00 per night
If you went out in 1986 with some Wham! on your Walkman, looking for the finest motorhome money could buy, this is what you would have come home driving. Owner John, who spent his 20s tinkering with VWs was blown away when he found this airstream and lovingly restored it, keeping the original character while adding a few modern touches and positioning it perfectly to make the most of this beautiful part of Devon. Hobs and a microwave have been added to the kitchen and DVD player to the retro feel of the dining area, sofas and leather chair in the cab. Outside there’s a private hot shower and laundry room, a fire pit, a picnic bench and a little crow’s nest deck, where you can sit with morning coffee and look out over the hills or lie back and do some spectacular stargazing. The Led Zeppelin has settled in a secluded field adjacent to John and Sallie-Ann’s home. There are livestock around, so keep an eye on the dogs if you have them, but you won’t see anybody else unless you’re out for the day. Even some of the many local hikes are fairly deserted, although the popular Tarka Trail is also nearby and makes for some great casual cycling. You could drop into Bude and other beaches along the coast for surfing and sunbathing, walk to some great pubs or explore the area’s diverse history and culture, from the underground passages of Exeter to the alpacas of Lydford Gorge. When you get back to The Led Zeppelin, crack open a bottle of something and settle in to watch and listen for bats and owls hunting in the dusk.

In a secluded spot overlooking the lush Devon countryside, this large, modern Cedar-clad home is the perfect place to unwind with family in style and luxury. The heart of this home is the stunning kitchen and dining area. A large island sits in the centre of a sleek, modern kitchen with all the conveniences required for creating feasts for large groups. Gather round the island, pour a drink and keep the chef company. Congregate for meals at the large marble dining table which, when covered in laden dishes and full glasses, becomes the place to create lovely memories. Bi-fold doors offer the countryside as a backdrop and, when the weather is fine, pull them aside to bring in the fresh country air and give greater prominence to the fabulous surroundings. The outdoor space is wonderful with something for all to enjoy. Youngsters will love the large grounds, trampoline and play area, as well as splashing about in the swim spa. A large terrace becomes the outside living space in the warmer months and sun loungers and patio dining furniture make it a comfortable, relaxing space to unwind. Lie back in warm rays listening to the gentle splashing from the spa and distant laughter of young ones playing. The fabulous exterior is more-than-matched by the delightful interior. Light, bright and spacious, with an abundance of large picture windows, it is a special place to chill out whatever the weather. Tartan carpets and rugs keep bedrooms and living spaces cosy, while smooth tiles add to the clean, neutral aesthetic. Take some quiet time in the peaceful living room and curl up with a coffee on the large sofas beside the crackling wood burner. Patio doors open out on to the deck for easy access to the garden terrace. When bedtime calls, there are five luxurious rooms to chose from, including one on the ground floor of the property. They all boast modern ensuites, high-end mattresses and linens and have magnificent views across the county. Should the wonderful views inspire guests to explore the area, there is plenty to see and do - head to the coast for days swimming, building sandcastles and rock-pooling. Hikers and bikers will love the rugged Blackdown Hills and there are lots of traditional pubs and great restaurants for refuelling after a day filled with adventure. The Ashill Inn and The Drewe Arms at Broadhembury both come well recommended.
