£1,375.00 per night
Discover a refurbished 18th century manor in the serene village of Bratton Clovelly, surrounded by countryside. Four former stables and barns have been repurposed into self-contained cottages accommodating up to 18 guests, perfect for a special occasion or to gather family and friends together. Beyond the natural beauty, you're spoiled for choice in leisure activities at this beautiful resort. Enjoy a few rallies on the tennis court and explore the 30-acre estate, including private woodland, before relaxing in the spa and dipping in the outdoor heated pool. For the wilder among you, there's always a swim in the private lake during the warmer months. The largest of the cottages, the Coach House, has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Underfloor heating will keep you toasty in the winter, and there's also a private four-seater hot tub in the enclosed garden. The Cottage has two ensuite bedrooms, one with a glazed balcony overlooking the piazza. The Studio has two bedrooms, both with ensuites. Like the Cottage, you can look over the piazza from the glazed balcony, and all three cottages have log burners to keep you toasty and warm all year round. Finally, the Apartment can sleep up to four guests, but it's up to you whether you prefer one bedroom and a sitting room, two bedrooms or two spaces to entertain. The cottages are self-contained but close to one another around a paved courtyard, giving you the ideal balance of socialising and relaxation. When you want to gather together, the private dining room seats 20, and you can savour the outdoor dining terrace on sunnier days. For the ultimate experience, book a bespoke banquet of East Asian cuisine from Li's kitchen on-site, or if you want to venture beyond the estate, dine out or go for a pint at the village pub, the Clovelly Inn, it's just a walk away. Be sure to sample all the estate's facilities, including the hot tub, hydro pool, wellness spa and sauna, and then curl up with a good book on the swing-egg chair under the veranda of the lounge. Once recharged, stroll around the lake and forest, fire up the BBQ in the outdoor cooking area outside the Coach House garden or hire the automatic ball serving machine at the tennis court. When you can tear yourself away from your country resort, explore the beauty of Dartmoor National Park. Whether walking, cycling or horse riding is your adventure of choice, there's plenty to explore in the vast open moorlands.

Fairfield Shepheards Hut

Chris and Tracey know a thing or two about how to set up a home. For years they lived in a house Chris built on his father’s land, but when that land was sold they came to Acorn Farm, where they bought and converted the chicken house that they still call home. So it’s no surprise that when it came to creating a shepherd’s hut camp, they were in their element. The old pagan tree circle at the centre of a field seemed the perfect spot, making the whole space feel like one giant room, not forgetting you also have use of the whole 45 acre farm. Chris set to work on constructing a spacious family hut, with two double bunks beds and a single that works as a sofa, plus a communal dining table on one side and the kitchen down the other. A second hut houses the shower and a compost loo and despite the complete seclusion of the site, both the bathroom and the kitchen sink have hot running water and there’s even a charging point for phones. After Chris had built all the functional stuff, Tracey got creative. A retro theme spans the 50s and 60s, from the cutlery to the taps, the radio and an old sewing machine, but she also filled trunks and boxes with rugs, hampers, board games and outdoor sports things, so you’ll have plenty to do either in the hut or in the big flat meadow area at the bottom of the field. They set up a barbecue spot under one of the larger trees, hung lanterns all around the circle and Acorn Farm was done. They are now ready to welcome you into their private paradise, greet you with wine and cheese and introduce you to the friendly farm animals (children and dogs even get their own little goodie pack too!) or alternatively, leave you to your own devices in the magic of a tranquil circle of trees on the edge of the beautiful peace of Dartmoor. Be prepared to totally forget life outside of Acorn Farm, as Chris and Tracey have made sure everything is thought of, so you can completely relax.
